Primary Learning Place offers various programs, designed to enhance your child’s learning at every stage of their development. We put our primary focus on engaging children in learning while they are having fun! We believe that during these young years, early child development sets the foundation for lifelong learning. Primary Learning Place incorporates the “Creative Curriculum” which promotes experiences in cognitive, social/emotional, physical and language development. Through age-appropriate, hands-on learning activities and Teacher guidance, we provide meaningful experiences that impact children’s learning.
At our Learning Center, your infant child will receive exceptional infant care from our warm and friendly caregivers. Our infant caregivers are all trained in First Aid and CPR and will take the best care of your infant child.
At Primary Learning Place we are dedicated to maintaining a soothing environment that is comfortable and stimulating for all children. Keeping cleanliness in mind, we make sure that each child’s assigned crib is never shared and our entire infant classroom is properly cleaned.
As children reached the age of 1, we promote them to the Toddler Program. We provide specific activities for this age group that allows children to view learning as fun. At our Learning Center, we provide an environment where your child feels secure and encouraged to learn through discovery.
Children are transitioned into the Twaddler Program once they turn 2 years old. With our Twaddler child care program we focus on the needs of children realizing the possibility of newfound autonomy. Children work on self-help skills such as drinking out of a cup, using a spoon and potty training. The Twaddler Program provides children a variety of instructional methods to help them socially and intellectually. Our teachers work to mold the total child in order to help them achieve success independently.
Good instruction allows children to engage in activities that are enjoyable and instructive all at once. Through our Preschool Program, children learn problem-solving, exploration, and skill mastery through teacher-led lessons and interest centers. Centers include arts and crafts, dramatic play, music, library, math, science discovery, language arts, reading, a computer lab and writing readiness. Your child’s learning style is addressed by many different educational opportunities.
Our Preschool participates in Florida’s VPK Program (Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten). The VPK Program is a Florida State funded program that prepares 4-year-olds for Kindergarten. Florida VPK Programs offer parents the opportunity to enroll their child in a free program as long as the child is 4 years old by September 1st and resides in Florida. The VPK program not only provides all of the aspects of the preschool program, such as problem-solving, interest centers, exploration, and discovery but also incorporates a structured academic curriculum.
Our students receive social and emotional growth that is essential at this stage of development, as well as pre-reading, writing and math skills necessary for a successful start in Kindergarten. PLP has the highest VPK score in the area for the school year and summer VPK. Our scores were 100% for the summer VPK and 87% for the fall VPK.
Kindergarten/First Grade Program
We offer an extensive Kindergarten and First-grade program that prepares your child for entrance into the Second Grade. Our program provides a low Student/Teacher ratio, enabling the teacher to give the children more individualized attention. The curriculum offered in our Kindergarten and First Grade programs follows the State of Florida Department of Education’s “Florida State Standards” in all academic areas. It is the basis on which we build the foundation of our strong curriculum.
Primary Learning Place offers Kindergarten and First Grade students a 100% income based scholarship thru the Step Up for Students program.
The Kindergarten and First Grade program is also available for children who miss the September 1st deadline. The child must be 5 years old by December 30th.
